We'd like to say thank you to all residents of the greater Mansfield, Ohio area who took the time to join us in a huge celebration, marking the 25th Anniversary of "National Night Out", which was held on August 5th. National Night Out is a night for Americans to stand together all across the nation, to promote awareness, safety and neighborhood unity.
Our local participation was the Community Information Fair, held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, located at #2 Marion Av., Mansfield. St. Luke's church located in the point at the five-way light.
This event would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the organizer, Shari Ranger. Shari operates Second Hand Rose, a thrift store on Glessner Avenue at the intersection of Sturges. She has been involved with the Neighborhood Watch program in the Blymer/Sturges vicinity for about five years.
The Community Information Fair lasted for two hours, and was attended by businesses and residents, adults and children, from all over the community. Many area agencies that offer public assistance and services to those in need were on hand to offer information about the benefits they provide. We were also very honored to have Mayor Don Culliver read "The National Night Out Proclamation.
The purpose of the event was to educate the public about the many agencies, groups, and businesses are available, to assist them and their families in keeping safe and healthy in our city, their homes, and where they work. We want Mansfield area residents to learn more on the effectiveness of Neighborhood Watch groups.
